The Bounty Around Us

It is the time of year when the garden “comes in.” If you live in a predominantly non-agricultural area, you may not know what that means. What that means is that suddenly, the gardens go into overdrive and fresh produce is everywhere. For example, last Thursday I picked my first very small handful of green beans. By yesterday, I picked a two gallon bucket of them. Last week, I joyfully picked three blackberries, and last night I picked large Tupperware bowl of them. It is the time of year when children ask to go out to eat, and parents around here say, “No, we’ve got things to eat from the garden.” It is a time of beauty, bounty, gorgeous colors, and the best taste sensations of the year.
